Our mission: Wasted Food and Who it Affects
Our challenge is to improve someone’s life through better living conditions. Our focus for this challenge is to solve the problem of food being wasted on a daily basis. When restaurants waste food, it gets thrown away to landfills, which then produces methane and other harmful gases that are released into the air. Poor air quality is a huge problem, and we went to target the wasted food that adds to the harmful gases. Improving air quality, will ultimately help people with asthma by limiting their chances of air quality induced asthma attacks.

Wasted food is a huge problem in today's society, but the specific problem we want to aim to fix is how wasted food that contributes to pollution in the air. When restaurants waste food, it gets thrown away to landfills, which then produces methane and other harmful gases that are released into the air. Poor air quality is an urgent problem in North Texas, and we want to target the wasted food that contributes to the harmful gases. Improving air quality in North Texas will ultimately help people with asthma by limiting their chances of air quality induced asthma attacks. Although there are things that people with asthma can stay away from, like tobacco and smoke to prevent asthma attacks, when the overall air quality is bad, people can’t avoid breathing in pollutants that cause a near same effect.
